Chris Baines believes in

Responsive Representation

The Core Principle: I believe that an Alder’s first job is to be a faithful representative of their neighbors' will.

Middleton is a community of diverse voices, and our city government should be a reflection of the governed, not an engine for a personal ideological agenda. I am committed to a "Listener-First" approach:

  • Neighborhood Mandate: If a neighborhood reaches a consensus on an issue, I will strongly lean towards advocating for that position at City Hall - even if it differs from my personal preference.

  • Constituent Communication: I have launched a District 4 newsletter to ensure you are informed of important votes before they happen, giving you a seat at the table. Sign up below!

  • Defending Local Democracy: Having visited countries where citizens have no say in their government, I have a deep appreciation for our local freedoms. I will always stand against top-down mandates that ignore the specific needs of our community.
